Boxes-Value and Line-Foundation 1
To explore how line and value differ we took to drawing a still love of boxes. The first week we took out 70 minute period and used 25 minutes of that to draw a line drawing of the box, that had a drapery and some cups around it as well. The second 25 minutes was to complete a value drawing.
The second 70 minute period the still life grew to include more boxes, draperies, and cups. The familiarity of how to "see" the boxes now helped immensely. Reminding the students that the boxes were just like the buildings we did in the perspective piece earlier in the year helped them draw parallels to previous work.
The images are show with the first week on top, and the second week on bottom. As you can see in most cases the improvement is very noticeable.
